About Your Dentist

Dr. Harry Jenkins is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia. He attended Hampton University, where he was a Pre-med major and received his B.A. degree in Biology. Dr. Jenkins then went onto Meharry Medical College- School of Dentistry and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. This was followed by completing his general practice residency at Hubbard Hospital in Nashville, Tenn where he served as chief resident.

Upon returning home, he began his career at Jenkins Dental Group working alongside his father, Dr. Harry L. Jenkins. From there he took a position at Coast Dental in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake, Virginia. Dr. Jenkins later went on to purchase this practice and become owner and sole proprietor in April 2004.

During this time, Dr. Jenkins has been active in his community. He has provided dental care to several nursing homes in the area, as well as volunteered in numerous health clinics. Dr. Jenkins has also served on the Foundation Board of Chesapeake Regional Hospital, past president of the John L. McGriff Dental Society and member of the Old Dominion Dental Society.

Interest - Dr. Jenkins and his wife, Kim, daughter, and twin boys reside in Virginia Beach, VA. He and his family currently attend FavorNation Church in Chesapeake and is a member of the Chesapeake/Virginia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas - Graduated from University of Arkansas in 1992 - Graduated from University of Tennessee, School of Dentistry in 1996.

Interests - Ice Hockey and Marathon Running.

In addition to his collegiate studies, Dr. Elfar has also completed his Advanced Education of General Dentistry, his Residency of general dentistry, and his diploma of endodontics and operative dentistry. He has also completed several comprehensive implant programs.

Dr. Elfar is a proud and active member of the American Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Life & Hobbies

Outside of the office, Dr. Elfar enjoys staying active in both mind and body. His favorite activities include reading, soccer, volleyball, and going for a run!
